Everybody wants the good life, but not everybody gets the good life. Imagine how happier you would be today if the Dalai Lama was your personal guide showing you how to find fulfillment in life in the little things that most people overlook? How amazing would it be if Albert Einstein were your godfather or Bill Gates became your personal adviser in your entrepreneurial ventures? Imagine what you would achieve if Michael Jordan was your basketball coach? The possibilities are limitless.
Do you know that Albert Einstein had a mentor? Every Thursday a young medical student would spend time with his family and introduce Einstein to philosophical/scientific books, Oprah Winfrey said she had a mentor, Gandhi had a mentor, Aristotle had a mentor, and Warren buffet had Benjamin Graham as his mentor. Steve Jobs had mentor. Almost every great achiever in the history of mankind had a mentor.
We will all agree that at one point in our lives, if we had the ideal mentor, our lives would have turned out for the better. Yet we are and have always been surrounded by these mentors. Whether they are alive or not, they are always within reach. They are always ready to give us their counsels. A mentor can provide guidance, support and space for you to think. As Dr.Chris Kirubi says, “At every stage in your life, you need a mentor.”
Mentors have the power to inspire us into doing great things in our lives .Everybody surely recognizes the importance of a role model. If you can download the consciousness ,the mindset of the people who have gone before you, the smartest ,the most intelligent ,the most experienced people, then you would get what you want(health, happiness etc.). Fortunately we have access to any mentor of our choice. You can easily be mentored by reading their writings as you can by listening to them. The reason you should love reading. Books are a hidden treasure .Most of the great mentors are not alive, but their words of wisdom still live with us.
Mentors are there to be copied and emulated. The ability to copy is the biggest predictor of the success you will have in life, as Picasso said “Good artists copy, great artists steal.” So you can go ahead and steal their technics and make them your own. You will be great.
Enough of this rumbling. Have you ever considered becoming a mentor to someone? You must be good at something, you must have more knowledge or experience which you can use to guide others. Become a mentor today. Inspire youths and students today. Call the high school principals and head teachers and schedule a visit to go and inspire the students. Buy and donate biographies/autobiographies to schools or your next door youth. Make a difference today.
