A friend requested for this, and I thought it a good idea to just share with him and everyone else who might be interested. This is a very small percentage record of an event that took almost four hours. The guest’s had inspiring stories of their early beginnings and those who attended benefited fully. I am not at liberty to share such personal life stories as I cannot even capture their depth and impression on me. But I will summarize the key lessons. All these key lessons were illustrated by the guests’ life anecdotes and those of their peers in their respective industries.
Here is a summary of the points I noted down during the mentor-ship talk that took place on 23rd July 2017, at New-life SDA Church cafeteria.

- Mentorship has biblical foundation,
- Paul says in 1st Corinthians 11.1. “And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. (NLT)
- Also Isaiah 64:8 “And yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand.”(NLT)
Presentation by Dr.Steve Mogere.
- You must learn to keep time. We should borrow a leaf from the Japanese. Japanese arrive at meetings 30mins earlier and they expect everyone to.
- You must have a plan for your life.
- Dress for success even If you do not feel like. You hate suits? You are not the first one to.
- There is growing demand for continuous self-improvement. Graduation is not the end of learning. Learning does not end.
- At the least, if cannot find a paying Job or Internship, volunteer to work for free.
- Align all your goals: social, academic, professional, etc. Plan. At what stage do you want to get married?
- In life, the school you attended may not matter at all.
- Take time to think through the choices you make.
What contributes to career success?

- Intellect=15%
- Diligence=5%

Career Development Process:
- Step 1: Self-Assessment.
- Step 2: Career Awareness.
- Step 3: Decision Making.
- Step 4: Action Planning.
For each step ask yourself these questions:
- What do I need to do?
- How do I achieve this?
- Where are the resources?
- Why should I do this?

Presentation by Ken Auma.
- 2nd Chronicles 2:9-10: “In addition, the crews of Hiram and Solomon brought gold from Ophir, and they also brought red sandalwood and precious jewels.” (NLT)
- Habakkuk 2:2-3 “And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” (KJV)
- Write down your vision. Even God would instruct prophets to write down their visions. There is power in written something down.
- Do not try to do something. Do something instead.
- Have a sharp vision: Focus on the goal. Do not be bogged down by the nitty gritty of how you are going to achieve this or that.
- Take calculated risks.
- Lay out well your targets.
- Do not mix with people who will bring you down. Find your tribe, people who will challenge you to grow.
- Taste before you trust. Do not fight on other people’s battle-grounds.
- You must be a team player. Show up, turn up when invited.
